Avalon Advanced Materials: Maintaining ESG Best Practices

Avalon Advanced Materials

One of the first rare earth mineral explorers to develop ESG best practices

Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. is a Canadian mineral development company specializing in sustainably-produced materials for clean technology. The company now has four advanced stage projects, providing investors with exposure to lithium, tin and indium, as well as rare earth elements, tantalum, cesium and zirconium. Avalon is currently focusing on developing its Separation Rapids Lithium Project near Kenora, Ontario while looking at several new project opportunities, including re-activating its 100%-owned Lilypad Cesium-Tantalum-Lithium Project in northwestern Ontario. Furthermore, social responsibility and environmental stewardship are corporate cornerstones.

Avalon is a leader among mineral developers in adopting best practices to reduce its environmental footprint, prevent water contamination and also engage with local communities.

At Avalon, sustainability means adopting leading industry standards for the management of health, safety and the environment;  transparently engaging with local communities and stakeholders; treating those with whom the company works with respect; and creating a workplace where employees are valued,  engaged and encouraged to succeed. Along with implementing risk and change management, Avalon integrates its sustainability objectives into business planning, work activities and assessments.

Avalon is also eager to embrace game changing technology. One that the company is looking at is Sensor-based Ore Sorting. This is where you crush the rock down to the size required to liberate the minerals of interest. It’s then put on a conveyor belt, and then sensors detect the minerals you want to concentrate. Importantly, it doesn’t involve the use of water or chemical reagents.
