Fireweed Zinc’s CEO on Partnerships with Local Communities
Partnerships with indigenous communities
Fireweed Zinc considers partnerships with the local communities, specifically the indigenous communities, that they work closely with to be of high importance. According to Macdonald, of the four to five million that the company spent last year, nearly 50 percent of that went through indigenous owned or joint venture companies. “That’s not just because of a box checking exercise. It’s because they have mature, capable businesses that can deliver the services we need,” says Macdonald.
