What is Quimbaya Gold exploring in Colombia?
Quimbaya Gold is exploring a large gold-copper-silver land package in Colombia’s Antioquia region, an area with more than 500 years of mining history and a reputation for hosting significant gold vein systems.
Colombia has long been known as a mineral-rich country, yet large portions of its geology remain underexplored compared with other South American mining regions.
Quimbaya Gold is focused on unlocking that opportunity.
The company controls approximately 66,000 hectares in the Antioquia region of Colombia, targeting gold, copper and silver mineralization across a large structural corridor.
According to Founder and CEO Alexandre P. Boivin, the opportunity lies in the combination of historic mining activity and modern exploration techniques.
Antioquia has produced gold for centuries, with mining activity dating back more than 500 years. The region hosts extensive vein systems and geological structures known for hosting major deposits.
Quimbaya’s exploration strategy is built around a principle common in the mining sector.
“The best place to find a mine is beside another mine,” Boivin explains.
The company’s land position sits near existing mining operations, including projects that have already demonstrated significant economic potential. This proximity supports the geological theory that large mineral systems can extend across broader structural trends.
The district itself is recognized as one of the world’s notable gold vein systems, with kilometers of mineralized structures that remain largely unexplored with modern exploration tools.
Quimbaya’s focus is identifying areas within these structures that may host new discoveries.
