The Keno Hill Silver project in Canada's Yukon

Alexco Resource is a primary silver company. They provide exceptional exposure and leverage to silver in one of the safest mining jurisdictions in the world. The Company owns the Keno Hill Silver District, located in the Yukon Territory, Canada. Additionally, they're a proven explorer, developer, and mine operator. The Keno Hill Silver District is one of the highest-grade historic silver districts in the world. It has produced more than 214 million ounces of silver at an average grade of approximately 1,373 grams per tonne (g/t) silver (44 ounces per tonne (oz/t) during the early and mid-1900’s.

The project is expected to have at least an eight-year lifespan. Further, it has an expected 60 to 70% rate of return.

"I think we're very close to finalizing all the steps that we need to put Keno Hill back into production.", says President, Brad Thrall.

More on Keno Hill

The Keno Hill Silver District (KHSD) is located 350 kilometers north of Whitehorse, in Canada’s Yukon Territory. It lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun (“FNNND”) and comprises 233 square kilometers characterized by numerous mineral occurrences and more than 35 mine sites with a history of production. Year-round access to the property is via highway from Whitehorse to Mayo. KHSD also connects to the national power grid.

According to the Yukon government’s Minfile database, between 1913 and 1989 the Keno Hill Silver District produced in excess of 200 million ounces of silver from over 5.3 million tons of ore with average grades of 44 ounces of silver per tonne, making it the second-largest historical silver producer in Canada. In 1989, with falling metal prices and increased environmental standards, the former owners of the Keno Hill Silver District, United Keno Hill Mines Limited, terminated its mining activities in the District.

Today, the Keno Hill Silver District is owned by Alexco. Moreover, it continues to boast significant mineral resources at grades far higher than most of the world’s primary silver producers.

"We think Keno Hill still has a lot of potential in growth", says Thrall.
