Metals and minerals for use in clean energy and new technology
Avalon Advanced Materials is a mineral development company. They are mainly focused on metals and minerals for use in clean energy and new technology. Further, they have three projects in advanced stages of development.
The demand is growing for formerly-obscure elements in new technologies. These include clean energy, aerospace, energy efficiency, modern electronics as well as medical applications.
"Our primary focus has been on these non-traditional commodities, now commonly referred to as critical minerals that are needed in new clean technology applications," says President and CEO, Don Bubar.
Avalon owns a diverse critical metals and minerals property portfolio, offering investors exposure to the rare earth elements, lithium, tin, indium, cesium and tantalum.
Separation Rapids Lithium Project
One of Avalon's projects is the Separation Rapids Lithium Project. It has the potential to produce high purity lithium compounds for two distinct markets: an industrial mineral product for glass-ceramics and lithium chemicals for energy storage.
Moreover, the Separation Rapids deposit is one of the largest “complex-type” lithium-cesium-tantalum pegmatite deposits in the world. It is also unusual in its enrichment in the rare, high purity lithium mineral petalite. Additionally, Petalite is the preferred lithium mineral feedstock for certain specialty glass-ceramic products for technical reasons, notably its consistently low impurity level.
