CEO Clips - Dakota Gold: Can One of America’s Historic Gold Districts Produce the Next Major Mine?

The company is advancing one of the largest undeveloped gold resources in the historic Homestake District of South Dakota.

Few gold districts in North America carry the history of South Dakota’s Homestake District. Over more than a century of operation, the district produced approximately 45 million ounces of gold, making it one of the most significant gold camps in U.S. mining history.

Dakota Gold was established with a singular focus: revitalizing this historic district through modern exploration and development. The company has assembled a substantial land package around the former Homestake Mine operations and is advancing what management describes as one of the largest undeveloped gold resources in the region.

With established resources and strong economics published in its July 2025 S-K 1300 Initial Assessment with Cash Flow outlining a measured and indicated mine plan with 2.6 million oz Gold production and 153,000 oz per year average annual production over a 17 year mine life, the company is entering a catalyst-rich development phase at its flagship Richmond Hill Gold Project. A Pre-Feasibility Study is expected in the second half of 2026, followed by a Feasibility Study targeted in the first half of 2027, supporting a pathway toward potential production as early as 2029.

The strategy follows a long-standing mining principle that many major discoveries are made near existing mines. Historic mining districts often benefit from established infrastructure, extensive geological knowledge, and proven mineral endowment. Dakota Gold believes the Homestake District continues to offer significant untapped potential despite the closure of the original Homestake mine in the early 2000s.

The company also highlights the strategic importance of domestic gold production, both as a store of value and as a key input for advanced manufacturing and technology applications. Producing gold within the United States may help support domestic supply chains while reducing exposure to geopolitical uncertainty. With a funded balance sheet to support its development plans through to construction phase at Richmond Hill, Dakota Gold is working to write the next chapter of one of America’s most recognized gold districts.
