Marifil & Novagold's Shared Gold Project
Dick Walters, Executive Vice-President of Marifil Mines, speaks about the company's key asset, San Rogue.
Marifil Mines Ltd. is over 20 years old. It was founded by Argentinean citizens.
Marifil has a great gold property that they are currently defining resources on. That project is located in northern Patagonia and southeast Argentina on the Atlantic coast.
The key asset of the company is called San Roque. The project is a partnership with Novagold Resources. The property has a railroad which goes to the city of San Antonio Oeste which is a deep sea port. There's also a labor forces nearby, there's a high speed highway, a natural gas line that goes along the highway, as well as a high tension power line. In the center of this claim block, the company has perfected ninety five square kilometers of claims where they've received title of the mineral rights from the government.
That being said, it's a very secure position to be in in terms of owning mineral rights. It's a very exciting project. Marifil has almost 17000 meters of drill core and are currently trying to get a resource put together on that.
More on Marifil's San Roque Property
More than US$7.5 million has been invested assessing the discovery, the majority of which was for nearly 16,000 meters of diamond core drilling as 108 holes. A continuation of drilling is imminent.
Several deposits of significant gold-silver-indium-lead-zinc mineralization have been discovered on a four kilometer long zone. The mineralization occurs in old volcanic formations and metamorphic rocks under them. Geologists suspected it to be related to a large volcanic paleo-caldera, and to be capping a deeper porphyry copper-molybdenum deposit.
