The Yukon Territory, traditionally known for its rich gold deposits, is now gaining attention for its critical minerals, essential for the future of technology and green energy solutions. As Yukon Premier Ranj Pillai highlights, the region is experiencing significant advancements in mining, which are expected to drive a prosperous economic future. Western Copper and Gold, under the leadership of CEO Sandeep Singh, is spearheading the development of the largest critical metals project in Canada, the Casino Copper-Gold Project. This project aims to address the growing demand for critical minerals, which Singh emphasizes will be a persistent challenge for the mining industry over the next two decades.
In parallel, Stillwater Critical Minerals, led by President & CEO Michael Rowley, is exploring the Cluanie Ultramafic Belt, a 600-kilometer-long system with immense potential. As the largest landholder in this belt, Stillwater is committed to advancing critical mineral supplies in alignment with the "friendshoring" efforts of Canada and the US. This strategic approach aims to secure a stable supply of essential minerals, bolstered by supportive government policies and a collaborative community in Yukon.
