Securing patents on their cannabis processing solutions
Nextleaf Solutions is the first publicly traded company to be issued a U.S. patent for industrial-scale extraction and purification of cannabinoids.
"Nextleaf is focused purely on extraction and developing intellectual property and formulation around cannabis products", says Paul Pederson, CEO.
Nextleaf's Extraction Technology
Nextleaf holds multiple U.S. issued as well as pending patents for the process of producing cannabinoid distillate. Indeed, this is the precursor of every cannabis infused product.
Importantly, highly concentrated THC or CBD distillate is odourless, tasteless, and standardized for potency. Nextleaf’s patented process will disrupt the production of infused edibles and beverages.
Moreover, through a combination of extraction, refinement and purification steps, they create a distillate suitable for a variety of product concepts and methods of consumption.
The company's unique approach enables producers and cultivators to bring premium, differentiated products to market safely and efficiently.
"Over the last five years, this industry has really been about growing plants and selling dried bud. But, as we get into 2.0 and these infused products that become legal later this year, we believe that intellectual property will become very, very important", says Pedersen.
